AMMAN — The West Asia-North Africa (WANA) Institute and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) office in Jordan on Wednesday held a dissemination event to present the results of seven research-based policy papers that address socio-economic challenges across social, economic, environmental and cultural aspects.
This dissemination event is part of a broader joint project titled “Addressing Socio-Economic Challenges in Jordan: Reflections on the Economic Modernisation Vision 2033,” which project aims to study several topics and provide recommendations that support the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV), according to a WANA Institute statement.
Director General of the WANA Institute Majd Naber delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the importance of research in supporting evidence-based policy recommendations to address development challenges in Jordan.
Resident Representative to Jordan, KAS office, Veronika Ertl highlighted the need for continuous dialogue and partnerships with local organisations to support youth in public debate and present concrete policy recommendations on topics of national and public interest.
The event consisted of two sessions, the first provided insights and recommendations on the central role of civil society organisations in knowledge production, the importance of strengthening social capital through social studies education for long-term inclusive economic growth, the potential of including men in the early childhood education and care sector and a rights-based analysis of embedding social justice principles in the EMV to ensure inclusive participation.
The second session focused on the environmental aspects, including the strategic pathways to scale climate-smart agriculture in Jordan, enhancing green energy transition by transferring the best international practices that align with the local context and the mobilisation of green finance instruments.
Representatives from various ministries, civil society organisations and the private sector participated in an interactive discussion with the authors of the research papers, providing their inputs and comments.
