AMMAN — Resuming construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project aims at taking advantage of the coronavirus crisis in a way that serves the city and its citizens, especially since traffic movement in the capital has come to a near halt, Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh said on Tuesday.
In an interview with the Jordan TV’s “This Evening” programme, Shawarbeh said that the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is committed to completing the BRT project infrastructure by the end of 2020, except for the Tareq intersection, which will be delayed by three months, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to the mayor, the BRT is expected to begin operating by the end of 2021 if all goes smoothly.
