AMMAN — The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and UNHCR Jordan on Thursday signed an agreement under which the UNHCR offered four ambulances and two buses to the Health Ministry.

The Planning Ministry said that the grant aims at supporting the Health Ministry’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a ceremony to receive the vehicles, Planning and International Cooperation Minister Wissam Rabadi expressed the government’s appreciation for UNHCR’s continuous support to the Kingdom, adding that the UN agency has played a role in fighting the pandemic in camps for Syrian refugees and in host communities.

For his part, UNHCR Representative in Jordan Dominik Bartsch said that the Kingdom, since the outbreak of the virus some six weeks ago, has supported refugees in “a distinguished way” and included them in the national response plan.
