AMMAN — A delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme UN-Habitat on Saturday visited Mafraq to have a first-hand look at areas most affected by the influx of Syrian refugees.
They also visited to review challenges facing the municipality regarding water harvesting, floods and water resources.
Acting Mafraq mayor Sami Basbous said that the municipal council’s priorities focused on addressing problems at the Mafraq Valley area due to its closeness to high density neighbourhoods populated by Syrians who witness foods due to heavy rains.
Basbous highlighted the importance of providing the municipality with the necessary support to work on improving rainwater drainage systems in the area, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
