AMMAN — A memorial plaque honouring the Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko was installed Thursday evening on the outer wall of the Ukrainian embassy in Amman, located on the street that bears his name.
The 100x60cm plaque has a portrait of the artist and a brief inscription in Arabic, Ukrainian and English, according to an official statement sent to The Jordan Times.
“This street is named after Taras Shevchenko — the great Ukrainian poet and artist to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth,” the plaque reads.
