AMMAN — The University of Jordan (UJ) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Global Health Catalyst (GHC) in cooperation with Harvard University, the University of Oxford, John Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania.

UJ President Nathir Obeidat and GHC Director Wilfred Ngwa signed the five-year memo, which entails establishing medical centres for cancer and heart disease patients at the UJ Hospital, according to a statement from UJ.

The MoU also aims to open cooperation between the UJ faculty of medicine and its peers at global universities, with a focus on collaboration in healthcare, scientific research and medical education.

Obeidat, during his participation in the Global Health Catalyst Summit 2023 held at the University of Pennsylvania, reviewed the top challenges facing medical education and health in Jordan and in the region, noting that the biggest challenge is bridging the gap between education and the needs of the labour market.
