AMMAN — University of Jordan President (UJ-Aqaba) Ghaleb Abbasi and Head of Environment, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nidal Oran on Tuesday discussed ways and means to protect the coastal and marine environment in Aqaba.
The two officials also went over the university's role in protecting and developing natural resources to serve the local community and boost economic growth, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Abbasi stressed the importance of closer cooperation in research projects aimed at developing local communities, in which, he said, the university played a key role in southern Jordan. Oran praised the university and the Marine Science Station's role in the progress of protecting the marine environment.
