AMMAN — Two brothers were charged on Thursday by the Criminal Court prosecutor with manslaughter in connection with the murder of two of their relatives in Ruseifa a day earlier, official sources said.

The two suspects, aged 34 and 35, reportedly confessed to the murder of their 39-year-old uncle and his 19-year-old son following an argument while on a street in Ruseifa, 12km east of Amman, on Wednesday, a senior judicial source said.

“The suspects claimed that they were involved in a heated argument and that one of them had a sharp object on him, which he used with the help of his brother to stab the two victims,” the judicial source told The Jordan Times.

The two men died at the scene as a result of fatal stab wounds to different parts of their body, the judicial source, who is close to the investigations, added.

On Wednesday, police announced that two men were stabbed to death and that the perpetrators were at large.

“Both men were arrested within hours and brought to Criminal Court Prosecutor Ahmad Kanani for questioning,” a second source added.

One of the suspects was charged by Kanani with manslaughter and the second was charged with complicity in murder, the source added.

Kanani ordered both suspects detained at a correctional and rehabilitation centre, pending further questioning, according to the judicial source.
