AMMAN — Rusaifa Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested two suspects in several cases of robbery in which culprits used social media to lure their victims, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A security source said that the CID in Rusaifa launched investigations few days ago after receiving a tip-off about anonymous people using social media networks to lure victims by pretending to be girls who want to engage in sexual activities with them.
After arranging meetings, the perpetrators would threaten the victims with sharp objects and steal their possessions, according to Petra.
After carefully monitoring the social media pages, the CID identified four suspects resulting in the arrests of two with charges of cyber crime. The suspects confessed that they were working with two other accomplices, Petra said, adding that investigations are still ongoing.
