TVSDC, ILO sign agreement to provide training for Jordanians, Syrian refugees

AMMAN — The Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on Sunday signed an agreement to implement a work-based learning programme for Jordanians and Syrian refugees.

The agreement was signed by TVSDC President Raghda Faouri and Chief Technical Adviser to the ILO programme of Support to the Crisis Response Qais Qatamin, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The agreement aims to facilitate cooperation between the two parties to enhance the skills and readiness of targeted segments through training programmes and activities that provide practical experience and allow trainees to apply their skills in real work environments.

Under the four-month agreement, the ILO will provide financial assistance to the TVSDC, which will supervise work-based learning programmes construction, agriculture, textile, tourism and logistics sectors, Petra said.

A total of 1,000 beneficiaries will participate in the training programmes for two months, during which each trainee will receive a transportation allowance of JD150.

Faouri commended the ILO's key role in developing local communities through projects that have contributed to reducing poverty and unemployment rates and empowered the youth by providing vocational and technical training in specialised areas highly demanded in the labour market.

Qatamin commended the partnership and joint proposals with TVSDC, expressing willingness to expand the cooperation to other projects.
