Turkey reaffirms support for Hashemite Custodianship of Jerusalem holy sites

AMMAN — Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Murat Karagoz on Tuesday reaffirmed his country's support for the Hashemite Custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The envoy was speaking during a meeting with the Jordanian-Turkish Brotherhood Committee at the Senate, headed by Senator Munir Soubar, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Describing Amman-Ankara relations as "historical and deep-rooted", Karagoz highlighted the two countries' cooperation agreements, underlining that Amman and Ankara see eye to eye on several issues, mainly the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem.

The envoy also noted that his country has resumed Turkish Airlines' direct flights to Aqaba, stressing that the embassy is working on attracting Turkish investments to the Kingdom and bolstering economic, tourism and cultural ties.
