Transport minister meets with US envoy

AMMAN — Transport Minister Anmar Khasawneh and US Chargé d’Affaires Karen Sasahara on Wednesday discussed issues of mutual interest within the field of transport.
During the meeting, Khasawneh briefed Sasahara and an accompanying delegation on various projects in Irbid, Madaba, Zarqa and Salt, which seek to improve infrastructure, reconfigure transport lines and operators’ grid, in addition to installing e-payment and tracking systems, which would facilitate transportation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Speaking on the national railway project, Khasawneh said it aims to connect cities and production centres in the Kingdom to a railway grid, in addition to providing access to neighbouring countries.
Sasahara commended Jordan’s transport sector and the ministry’s role in improving services within the field.
