Trade Facilitation Portal streamlines import/export procedures

AMMAN — The Trade Facilitation Portal offers credible and reliable information, market analysis and trade figures for current and future investors, according to the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The Trade Facilitation Portal was developed within the framework of the “Improving the business environment for SMEs” project.

The project was implemented by the ITC and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Dutch government.

“The gateway shares information on foreign trade and practical steps to import, export and transit more than 70 products in a business-friendly manner,” Raghad Altalli, Trade Facilitation Adviser, said during a media briefing.

Altalli added that the portal also provides lists of procedures and documents to be submitted at different steps. “The portal integrated over 48 entities’ procedures and requirements under one portal,” she said.

“Digitalising economic sectors saves time and effort,” Lubna Zu’bi, ITC national coordinator, said during the briefing.

Zu’bi added that the portal is an instrument to improve transparency and ease access to information, simplify procedures, enhance cooperation between border control agencies and improve public-private sector dialogue.

According to Zu’bi, the portal offers detailed procedures on the import, export and transit of products, thereby enhancing their compliance and reducing transaction delays.
