AMMAN — The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, in partnership with the First Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas, organised a promotional event titled "Christian Faith in Jordan: Land of Revelation, Baptism, and Pilgrimage."
Held alongside Jordan's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the event aimed to promote the Kingdom's historical and religious significance as one of the world's leading destinations for Christian pilgrimage.
The event was attended by Tourism Minister Emad Hijazeen, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, Jordanian Ambassador to the US Dina Kawar, and Chairman of the Lower House Tourism Committee Salem Omari, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The programme opened with a photo exhibition showcasing Jordan's biblical heritage, followed by the Jordanian national anthem, musical performances, and welcoming remarks by First Baptist Church Pastor Dennis Wiles and Hijazeen.
The agenda also featured a lecture by Executive Director of the Centre for Judeo-Christian Studies Sarah Winner, highlighting Jordan's spiritual and biblical significance.
Hijazeen said that Jordan is home to some of Christianity's holiest sites, foremost among them the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
He added that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, Jordan continues to serve as a global model of religious coexistence, moderation, and interfaith dialogue while safeguarding both Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Kawar wrote on X that the event successfully highlighted Jordan as an integral part of the Holy Land and home to one of the world's oldest continuous Christian communities.
The promotional campaign coincides with Royal Jordanian Airlines' launch of direct flights between Amman and Dallas, a move expected to improve access for American tourists and Christian pilgrims.
Hijazeen also noted that Jordan will present a mosaic football sculpture celebrating the Kingdom's rich history to the City of Dallas.
The event concluded with remarks by Pastor Wiles, who praised Jordan's message of peace and coexistence. The gathering brought together church leaders, academics, tourism officials, and members of the Jordanian expatriate community.
