AMMAN — Maan Civil Defence Department (CDD) rescue teams, in cooperation with the army, used a helicopter to rescue a tourist guide in his thirties who fell off a rocky cliff, more than 40 metres deep, in Dlagha Valley near Wadi Araba, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday. The man was accompanying a group of tourists on Friday when he fell.
CDD personnel used special tools to reach him on foot and administer first aid to him, but could not extract him the same night because darkness fell. When there was enough light on Saturday, the injured guide was transported by helicopter to Queen Rania Hospital in Wadi Musa, Maan governorate, 220km south of Amman, where he was listed in stable condition.
