Testing work for Ajloun cable car project commences

AMMAN — Testing, control, and inspection works have begun on the 2,550-metre cable car project in Ajloun.

Arwa Hiyari, director general of the Jordan Development Zones Company, on Thursday said that 40 cable trams wrapped up with temporary safety covers will be seen out on the line during the testing process, adding that inspection, control, and calibration operations will be conducted to ensure that safety standards and requirements are in place.

Individuals are not allowed to enter or use the sky trams during this phase, under the technical procedures of Doppelmayr, an Austrian manufacturing company, she added.

Over the next months, tests for speed, movement, sensors and brake systems will be conducted under several operation scenarios, including different weather conditions and various loads, until the completion of the project in the summer of 2022, she said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The project, with 40 sky trams each carrying up to eight people for a 10-minute one way trip, includes a departure station in the Ishtafina park and an end-of-line stop, 550 metres west of the Ajloun Castle.
