‘Teen among three dead in road accidents over weekend’

AMMAN — Three people died and 22 were injured in traffic accidents across the Kingdom over the weekend, officials said on Saturday. 

Adnan Daas, 19, was killed and five people were injured when a vehicle changed lanes suddenly on the Zarqa-Mafraq road, said Lt. Col. Yaser Habahbeh of the Central Traffic Department.

On Thursday, a 42-year-old Egyptian man died in Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman, when a vehicle tried to overtake a tractor, said Habahbeh, while a 66-year-old man was run over and killed in Zarqa, 22km east of Amman. 

Also on Thursday, five people were injured in a crash near the airport in Amman, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) said in a statement. 

They were taken to King Hussein Medical City, where they were listed in fair condition. 

In another accident, two vehicles collided in Mafraq Governorate, injuring four people who were listed in fair condition at Mafraq Public Hospital, the CDD said. 

On Friday, four people were injured in a collision involving two vehicles in Deir Alla in Balqa, 35km northwest of Amman. They were listed in fair condition at Princess Iman Public Hospital, the CDD said. 

 

In Irbid, 80km north of Amman, four people were injured in an accident caused by wrongful overtaking and taken to Prince Rashid Military Hospital, where they were listed in fair condition.
