Suspected drug trafficker dies after shootout with police — PSD

AMMAN — Security forces have raided the hideout of a suspected drug trafficker during which the suspect fired at the security personnel who applied the rules of engagement, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.

The suspect was arrested along with two accomplices, the spokesperson said.

The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the PSD spokesperson.

The security agents seized the gun used by the suspect in shooting at the security force and an unspecified amount of narcotics, the spokesperson added.
