Suspect detained in shooting death of Amman resident

AMMAN — Amman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel on Wednesday detained a murder suspect, who later confessed to shooting a man and hiding his body.

The Public Security Department (PSD) media centre said the victim’s family reported his disappearance on Tuesday and a joint committee of CID and police personnel was formed to follow up on the incident.

Initial investigation identified one of the missing man’s relatives as a suspect.

Upon detention and interrogation, the suspect confessed to taking the victim to a remote area and shooting him over an unpaid debt.

He then hid the body in a hole under his house in east Amman.

The case was referred to the prosecutor general.
