AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor on Sunday charged a 27-year-old man with premeditated murder for reportedly killing a man and pouring concrete on him in a building under construction last month in Amman, official sources said.

The suspect reportedly confessed on Sunday to murdering the 39-year-old man in mid-January after “luring him to a building under construction in Baqaa”, a senior judicial source said.

“The suspect led police, forensic specialists and investigators to the area where he buried the victim and informed them that he had dug a hole one day before his planned murder,” the senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.

In his initial confession before Criminal Court Prosecutor Salah Taleb, the suspect said “he had personal feuds with the victim almost 10 days before the incident”, according to the judicial source.

“The suspect plotted to kill the victim, and located the building where he dug a hole a day before the incident,” the judicial source explained.

On the day of the incident, the source maintained, “the suspect lured the victim to the building, struck him twice on the head with a hammer, then shot him three times also in the head”.

“The suspect placed the victim in the hole, poured concrete over his body and left the area,” the source added.

The incident was exposed when the victim’s family reported him missing on January 18, according to a statement released by the Public Security Department (PSD).

“A special taskforce was formed to follow up on the case, and investigators gathered information from the victim’s mobile phone, his family and his friends, who said that the victim was last seen alive with the suspect,” according to the PSD statement.
