Suspect arrested for ‘staging traffic accidents’

AMMAN — Amman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have arrested a suspect charged with fraud by staging traffic accidents to force motorists to pay him money, the Public Security Department’s (PSD) media centre said Sunday.

CID personnel arrested the suspect after he set up a collision incident and offered to accept cash from the other involved motorist instead of reporting the accident to police, according to a PSD statement. Questioning of the suspect revealed he was involved in 13 other “fake accidents”, the PSD said.
