AMMAN — Police on Saturday announced the arrest of a suspect who allegedly stabbed a traffic police officer in Maan late last week.
The traffic officer was patrolling a street in Maan Governorate, 220 kilometres south of the capital, on Wednesday when the suspect “approached him and stabbed him, then fled”, police spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
Investigations indicated that the stabbing was carried out by the suspect to allegedly “avenge his brother’s arrest and targeted any police officer”. “ The suspect was arrested at dawn on Saturday without any major incident,” a police source said.
The injured officer was treated and discharged on Thursday, Sartawi said.
Police are currently questioning the suspect.
