AMMAN — Social Security Corporation (SSC) Director General Hazem Rahahleh on Monday expressed intention to extend the Estidama and Estidama Plus programmes — COVID relief programmes that target hard-hit sectors — until next June to protect jobs in the private sector.

Rahahleh, during his meeting with the board of directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the corporation’s efforts to cover all workforce under its umbrella, to ensure the necessary protection for the workers and their families.

The objectives of the proposed amendments to the Social Security Law focus on offering protection and ensuring economic security for the subscribers and their families, as well as for the retirees.

They also seek to maintain financial stability for the insurance system to protect all generations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The bill has focused on four main themes: Financial sustainability, stimulus, response and protection, he said.

Rahahleh noted that all proposed amendments related to early retirement will not include those who have 120 subscriptions until January 1 2022, while those who have less than that the early retirement age will be 55 for males and 52 for females.

Retirement pension will be linked with inflation, he added.
