AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Wednesday commenced the trials of four of the suspects who uttered offensive chants during the Jordanian and Kuwaiti national team football match in Amman this October as part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
SSC Presiding Judge Colonel Ali Mubaidin has pressed charges against the four suspects for committing illegal acts that harm relations with another country and “exposing Jordanians to possible reprisals”.
Mubaidin adjourned the session to next Sunday to begin hearing the prosecution’s witnesses in the case, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
