Social Development Ministry holds meeting of Empowerment/Social Services team

AMMAN — The Ministry of Social Development has held the second meeting of the Empowerment/Social Services team, which was established as a result of the National Social Protection Strategy 2019-2025, according to a ministry statement.

Chaired by the ministry’s secretary general, Barq Dmour, the meeting was attended by Secretary General of the National Council for Family Affairs Muhammad Miqdadi, Director General of the Jordan River Foundation Anaam Al Braishi and representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Institute for Family Health Care.

The meeting discussed the progress of work and activities included in the strategy for the coming period, as well as the executive work plan for the years 2021-2023, according to the statement sent to The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

Dmour indicated that the Ministry of Social Development is looking forward to collaborating with the Ministry of Education regarding kindergartens in local community development centres.

He also highlighted the ministry’s directives to establish centres for marketing and distributing the products from family businesses and improving the service provided to citizens in various other fields.

The attendees called on the agencies providing basic social services, such as education, health, and social care to coordinate their efforts, as well as develop means and methods for delivering social services, improving their quality and efficiency, and identifying funding gaps for these programmes and projects, according to the statement.
