AMMAN — Temperatures are expected to increase slightly on Tuesday, while relatively cold weather will prevail in most areas of the Kingdom, the Jordan Metrological Department (JMD) said on Monday.

The Jordan Valley and Aqaba will witness fair weather, while low-altitude clouds will cover the northern region of the country. Wind should be south-eastern and moderate, according to a JMD statement.

On Wednesday, cold and partly cloudy weather conditions will be accompanied with a chance of showers, particularly in the northern region of the country.

Late evening will bring with it a cold air mass accompanied by a depression centred over Cyprus.

Weather conditions will shift to cold and cloudy, with rain expected to fall in the northern part of the Kingdom, and will gradually extend to the central region before hitting parts of the southwestern region, the JMD said.

Rainfall may be heavy in the northern and central regions at times, leading to flooding in valleys and low-lying areas. Moderate to brisk westerly winds will prevail during the night, leading to dust issues in the southern and eastern regions of the country.

Amman’s Tuesday temperatures are expected to be around 17ºC, dropping to 7ºC at night, while temperatures in Aqaba will range between 26ºC and 12ºC.
