‘Shops selling fireworks, firecrackers to be referred to court’

AMMAN — The Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology (JISM) on Sunday warned that any traders found selling fireworks and firecrackers will be referred to specialised courts.

JISM Director General Hayder Zaben said monitoring teams are performing large-scale inspection campaigns on the market to see if such items are sold.

Zaben also said that a prison term of up to four months, in addition to a fine reaching JD5,000, will be imposed on traders selling fireworks and firecrackers as well as pellet guns.

He added that the public can call 0795052552 or 0778441500 to report shops selling such contraband.
