AMMAN — Two ships loaded with food and medicine on Saturday docked at the Aqaba Container Terminal, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Aqaba Container Terminal Company CEO Steven Yoogalingam said in a statement that the terminal has witnessed an increase in the handling process during the coronavirus crisis, pointing to the arrival of 10 other ships during the current week and the coming week loaded with food and medicine.

Yoogalingam noted that the workflow in the ports during this crisis is “going smoothly and without obstacles”.

President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Bakhit confirmed that the Aqaba ports have witnessed a 10-per cent increase in handling, adding that the ASEZA customs, since the beginning of the crisis, have dealt with 192,000 containers, compared with 177,000 containers for the same period of 2019.
