AMMAN — President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Nael Kabariti on Sunday called on the government to raise the exempt purchase ceiling for Aqaba’s local visitors from JD200 to JD400.
Kabariti said that this increase would boost tourism and trade movement as well as open a window of opportunity to all trade sectors in Aqaba, 330km south of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also urged authorities not to over-assess the value of visitors’ shopping purchases, in order to encourage visiting the Aqaba Special Economic Zone.
