In a session chaired by Senate President Faisal Fayez and attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh and Cabinet ministers, senators again refused the addition of "political parties" to the Independent Election Commission's name as proposed by the Lower House.
The dispute between the two chambers can only be settled now through holding a joint session as per Article 92 of the Constitution .The Senate also endorsed a recommendation to the government to extend Defence Order No. 28 of 2021 regarding the imprisonment of a debtor until the end of the year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Also during the session, Fayez called on banks, chambers of industry and commerce, major companies, professional associations and businesspeople to establish a social solidarity fund to help indebted civilians.
