Security, justice needed in post-conflict zones — Prince Zeid

NEW YORK — HH Prince Zeid Bin Raad, Jordan’s permanent representative to the UN, on Wednesday stressed the importance of providing security along with humanitarian support in order to rebuild a country or area devastated by war.
Prince Zeid made the statement in an address that he delivered at the UN Security Council during a discussion on boosting the rule of law.
In a post-conflict environment, he stressed the need to establish efficient criminal and financial courts.
Prince Zeid also asked that the number of legal advisers at international peace-keeping contingents be increased.

HH Prince Zeid Bin Raad, Jordan’s permanent representative to the UN, on Saturday said the suffering of the Syrian people and the consequences of the crisis on neighbouring countries have prompted the Security Council to adopt a resolution to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Syria.
Upon Jordan’s request, Omar Ababneh and Fares Odwan on Thursday were accredited as representatives of the Jordanian delegation to the UN Security Council.
HH Prince Zeid Raad, Jordan’s permanent representative at the UN, has expressed the dissatisfaction of the Jordanian government with the conditions of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom and for not receiving assistance, as much as needed, to deal with this fallout of the Syrian plight.
