AMMAN — Saudi Arabia’s national campaign to support Syrians plans to distribute food assistance worth 954,000 Saudi riyals (around JD180,000) to refugees in Jordan and displaced people in southern Syria in preparation for the fasting month of Ramadan.
Within the plan, 6,000 “food baskets” will be distributed to Syrian families in Jordan and south Syria, according to the campaign’s regional director Bader Samhan.
Each family will receive one basket, which weighs around 45 kilogrammes and contains staples such as sugar, rice, tea, oil, dates, olives and flour, in addition to legumes such as lentils and bulgur. One basket covers the needs of a whole family for a month.
