AMMAN — The Agriculture Ministry has implemented a field survey of poultry farms in the Jordan Valley, collecting samples to test for bird flu and other diseases, an official said Saturday.
The samples tested negative for infections, Munther Rifai, the ministry’s assistant secretary general for animal resources, said.
He added that the ministry will carry out a survey on all poultry farms in the Kingdom after bird flu cases emerged in several neighbouring countries.
Rifai said the ministry has a work plan to fight the disease in cooperation with the Health Ministry, and has also tasked some veterinarians to make field visits to raise farmers’ awareness against the infection.
