AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi On Monday reiterated the Kingdom's support for Lebanon, pledging assistance to help the country address the repercussions of Israeli aggression.

In a phone call with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Safadi conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah's directives to provide all possible assistance to Lebanon, reiterating Jordan's commitment to the country's security, stability, and sovereignty, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Safadi urged the international community to act swiftly to secure an immediate ceasefire and to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.

The top diplomat also expressed full support for Mikati's call to deploy the Lebanese army south of the Litani River in coordination with international peacekeepers, urging the Lebanese parliament to convene and elect a president.

"The international community must act swiftly to end this dangerous escalation, with the cessation of aggression against Gaza as the first essential step," Safadi said.

Jordan, as per Royal directives, has dispatched two aid planes to Lebanon and continues to provide other humanitarian assistance.

In separate phone calls, Safadi discussed the escalating regional tensions with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.

The top diplomats highlighted the urgent need for a ceasefire, underscoring the importance of implementing Resolution 1701. They noted that Mikati's commitment to uphold the resolution presents a critical opportunity that the international community should support.

The ministers also stressed the need for "immediate international action" to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to de-escalate tensions in the West Bank.
