Safadi, Portuguese counterpart talk bilateral ties, regional issues

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday received a phone call from Portuguese Foreign Minister Joao Cravinho. During the phone conversation, they discussed bilateral relations and a number of regional issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, according to a ministry statement. Both ministers stressed the importance of the countries' friendship and the need to continue developing it in the economic, defence, tourism and cultural arenas. They also reaffirmed commitment to cooperation and coordination within the framework of the Jordanian-EU relations. Safadi and Cravinho also discussed developments related to the Sudanese crisis and the evacuation process of third country nationals. They emphasised the importance of the conflicting parties in Sudan reaching a ceasefire and resolving the crisis through dialogue to protect Sudan and the Sudanese people.
