AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, in a phone call on Tuesday with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio, discussed regional developments and bolstering cooperation.

The ministers, who will meet in Amman at the beginning of 2021, also examined the efforts exerted to tackle regional crises and strengthen security and stability, stressing the importance of resolving the Libyan and Syrian crises and combating terrorism.

Safadi expressed appreciation of Italy's stance towards the two-state solution, which leads to establishing a fair and comprehensive peace that rejects, in accordance with international law, settlements and the demolition of Palestinian homes.

Safadi also extended thanks to Italy's continuous support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Maio commended Jordan's central role in preserving stability in the region, reaffirming Italy's support to the Kingdom in hosting Syrian refugees.
