AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Monday discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions with his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, during a phone call.
The two ministers reviewed ongoing efforts to end the escalation and restore calm in the region, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi and Wadephul stressed the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, underscoring the need for dialogue to achieve a comprehensive solution that addresses the root causes of regional tensions and promotes lasting security and stability.
They also emphasised the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the statement said.
During the call, Wadephul reaffirmed Germany's condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Jordan and expressed Berlin's full solidarity with the Kingdom.
The ministers also reaffirmed the strong partnership between Jordan and Germany and their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
Safadi expressed Jordan's appreciation for its longstanding friendship with Germany and for Berlin's continued support for the Kingdom's economic development.
