AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok on Monday discussed the latest updates regarding the Palestinian cause, mainly those pertaining to the threat posed by Israel to a just and comprehensive peace if it implements its decision to annex occupied Palestinian lands.
During a phone call, Safadi reiterated the importance of launching immediate and effective international efforts to halt the annexation decision, and resuming direct negotiations in a bid to realise peace based on the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The minister commended the stances of The Netherlands and the EU rejecting the annexation decision and adhering to the two-state solution as the only means to achieve peace.
Safadi and Blok also discussed endeavours to secure the financial support necessary to enable UNRWA to continue implementing its role towards Palestinian refugees.
In this regard, Safadi expressed gratitude for The Netherlands’ support to the UN agency and for its participation in the international conference that is scheduled to be co-organised by Jordan and Sweden to secure the necessary financial support for UNRWA.
