Safadi deplores El Paso’s ‘horrific shooting’, offers condolences

AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday took to Twitter to express solidarity with the victims of a mass shooting in Texas.

“Our thoughts & prayers are with the victims of the horrific shooting in El Paso, Texas,” the minister Tweeted.

The top diplomat added: “Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims & to US people & government. Terrorism & culture of hate are a common enemy. We condemn all kinds of terrorism and hate crimes.”

Two mass shootings in the United States have left 29 people dead within 24 hours, the latest such attacks in a nation torn over how to tackle gun violence, the AFP news agency reported.

A gunman armed with an assault rifle killed 20 people on Saturday when he opened fire on shoppers at a packed Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, according to AFP.

Less than 13 hours later, a lone shooter killed nine people in Dayton, Ohio, early Sunday before being shot dead by responding police officers.
