Rwandan ambassador commends Jordanian expertise in industrial cities

AMMAN — Rwandan Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa praised on Wednesday the advanced level achieved by Jordan in the field of industrial cities and the investment opportunities they offer to create an investment environment for attracting industrial investments.

According to a statement by the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation (JIEC) on Wednesday, Bakuramutsa emphasised the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Jordan and Rwanda in the development of industrial cities during her meeting with JIEC Chairman Luay Sahwil and Director General Omar Juwaid in the AlMuwaqar Industrial Estate. 

Bakuramutsa highlighted the importance of building on the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah’s recent visit to Rwanda, during which several bilateral cooperation agreements were signed, followed by recommendations from the Jordan-Rwanda Cooperation Forum held recently in Amman.

Sahwil noted the comprehensive progress led by JIEC in expanding industrial cities to meet investment demand, mentioning that the number of industrial cities in the Kingdom has reached nine, adhering to the best standards.

Sahwil mentioned cooperation agreements signed with several countries, including Algeria, Palestine, and the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Juwaid welcomed the Rwandan ambassador’s invitation for the Jordanian side to visit Rwanda to explore opportunities for mutual cooperation and achieve the visions and aspirations of the leadership of both countries to enhance joint cooperation.

Muwaqar Industrial Estate, which by the end of 2023, hosted 96 operating companies with an investment volume of JD631 million, providing approximately 4,800 job opportunities in various operational stages.
