RSS signs agreement with UC Berkeley

AMMAN — The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) has signed an agreement to enhance collaboration with the University of California — Berkeley, the society said on Saturday. 

Under the agreement, programmes and activities will be launched to bring more scholarships for scientific research and guidance, as well as faculty exchange and funding, the RSS said in a statement. 

Speaking at the signing ceremony, HRH Princess Sumaya, president of the RSS, said the deal would provide the framework for both parties to exchange technical expertise, describing the agreement as a starting point for research initiatives on international standards in terms of preparation and evaluation.

The princess said the agreement would also be a cornerstone for the Organic Metals Laboratory at the RSS, enabling the society to become one of Berkeley’s world renowned scientific centres. 

A delegation from Berkeley toured the RSS’s King Abdullah II Faculty where they were briefed on its state-of-the-art laboratories. 

Omar Yaghi, a chemistry professor from the University of California — Berkeley, commended the level of technical expertise and research conducted at RSS, the statement said.

Yaghi expressed praised the Princess Sumaya University for Technology as a pioneer in its vision to nurture researchers and businesspeople who contribute to the development and growth of the economic sector.
