RSS, ministry sign agreement to power agricultural pumps with solar cells

AMMAN — The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Environment to install and operate solar-cell systems for water pumps in the agricultural sector.
Under the agreement, three tenders would be granted to Jordanian companies working in the field of renewable energy to install and operate the systems, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a speech delivered by RSS Vice President for Research and Development Rafat Assi on behalf of HRH Princess Sumaya, he said that under a previous agreement the RSS’ National Energy Research Centre was tasked with designing, supplying, installing, operating and receiving solar photovoltaic systems for operating water pumps in the agricultural sector.
