AMMAN — Ro’ya TV’s correspondents in the West Bank were “assaulted” on Thursday by Israeli occupation forces while they were covering an olive sapling planting ceremony near the Jabba checkpoint on the way to occupied Jerusalem.
The channel said Nebal Farsakh, the head of its Palestine office, and cameraman Mohammad Shosheh were covering a ceremony held to mark the anniversary of the death of Mohammad Abu Khudeir, a 16-year-old Palestinian who was kidnapped and burned alive by Jewish extremists after the killing of three Israeli teenagers.
In a statement on its website, Ro’ya TV said occupation forces sprayed pepper gas at the journalists, adding that stun and gas grenades were also used to disperse the participants, with tens suffering burns and shortage of breath.
Farsakh and Shosheh were taken to a nearby healthcare centre where they received medical attention.
Mohammad Radi, the correspondent of Palestine satellite channel, was also injured and was taken to hospital for treatment, Ro’ya said.
