AMMAN — Strengthening Jordan’s social enterprises requires the creation of robust networks, incubators, and cooperative partnerships between the public and private sectors, according to experts.

They also stressed the need for national strategies that promote the growth and sustainability of these enterprises to maximise their societal impact, according to a recent report by JoWomenomics.

The report said that social enterprises, which address critical challenges such as unemployment and community development, need a supportive ecosystem to thrive.

It also highlighted that “building connections between stakeholders and providing resources through incubators can unlock their full potential.”

Hala Tahseen, an expert in social entrepreneurship, emphasised the importance of prioritising the development of networks that connect entrepreneurs to markets, mentors, and funding opportunities. “Equally vital is the formulation of national strategies that integrate public-private partnerships to create the infrastructure and policies these enterprises need,” she said.

Tahseen also stressed the importance of organisational clarity to ensure that goals, roles, and processes are clearly defined and executed efficiently.

The report also pointed out that “cultural and contextual adaptation allows social enterprises to resonate with the communities they serve.”

"When paired with clear organisational structures and strategies, these enterprises can amplify their impact and contribute to both social and economic development."

Such efforts would not only empower social enterprises to drive sustainable development but also position Jordan as a regional leader in social innovation, the report added.

Sereen Sharif, leader of a social enterprise, told The Jordan Times, “There should be a roadmap for social enterprises in Jordan. This will encourage many Jordanians to innovate and create new opportunities.”

She also noted that the sustainability of social enterprises depends on their ability to generate profits while simultaneously driving significant social development.
