AMMAN — Remittances of Jordanians working in Qatar during the 2018-2022 period totalled some $1.5 billion, money exchangers said on Wednesday.
The remittances of Jordanian expatriates reached $440 million in 2022, up from $150 million in 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Jordanian community in Qatar has also grown, increasing from 45,000 people in 2018 to around 70,000, thanks to a two-phase Doha initiative designed to provide 20,000 jobs for Jordanians in Qatar.
The initiative was launched several years ago and has thus far provided 10,000 jobs by 2022.
