Recent rainfall fills Kingdom’s dams with 4mcm of water

AMMAN — The recent rainfall has filled the Kingdom’s 14 major dams with four million cubic metres (4mcm) of water, as of Monday morning, according to the Ministry of Water.

The ministry, in a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said the latest precipitation has raised the overall rain the country has received since the beginning of the wet season to 310 million cubic metres, equal to 3.8 per cent of Jordan’s long-term annual average rainfall of 8.1 billion cubic metres.

The highest percentage of stored rainwater was recorded by Waleh Dam, amounting to 2,830 million cubic metres. King Talal Dam recorded 375,000 cubic metres, while Mujib Dam recorded 369,000 cubic metres.
