Razzaz reviews measures taken to address violations in Audit Bureau report

AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday reviewed measures taken by a committee entrusted with examining violations contained in the 2017 Audit Bureau report, which was referred to the Lower House.

During a meeting with the committee, headed by Secretary General of the Prime Ministry Sami Dawood, the prime minister was briefed on the methodology used to address the violations.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Majd Shweikeh, who is in charge of institutional performance and policy development at the Prime Ministry, and Audit Bureau President Abed Kharabsheh, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Razzaz lauded the committee’s cooperation with the Audit Bureau to deal with the violations, stressing the government’s commitment to fighting all forms of financial and administrative corruption and waste of public money.

He affirmed the importance of using the same level of responsibility and seriousness in addressing violations contained in the 2018 Audit Bureau report, stressing that not a single violation contained in the report will be overlooked.

Razzaz also stressed the importance of strengthening the Audit Bureau’s role in administrative control, adding that the government will support the bureau’s efforts to reduce administrative malpractice.

Dawood, the chairperson of the committee entrusted with examining the Audit Bureau’s report, said that the violations contained in the report included cases of corruption, embezzlement, forgery, fraudulent land sales between individuals, abuse of public office and financial contracts, as well as incentives for absent staff and unauthorised travel allowances, among others.
