AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wissam Rabadi on Sunday said that the Kuwait-based  Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development has agreed to provide Jordan with financial aid in the form of a grant of 1,000,000 Kuwaiti dinars, equivalent to about $3.2 million.

The grant aims to assist the Jordanian government in covering the costs for urgent necessities to combat COVID-19 and limit its spread, according to a Planning Ministry statement.

Rabadi said that the ministry continues to hold online meetings with various organisations to mobilise support from countries and donors in order to cover the financing needs for the government's priorities in terms of countering the spread of COVID-19, and in respect to the health, education and transport spheres.

Rabadi praised the fund’s constructive and supportive role in providing financing for the Jordanian government’s priority development projects since 1975, as the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development is a key partner in supporting development efforts in the Kingdom, according to the statement.
