AMMAN — The smart cleaning system implemented at the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has won the 2025 Technology Innovation Award from Airports Council International, in partnership with Amadeus, under the category of “Best Innovation in Airport Operations and Facilities Management”.

In a statement on Monday, Airport International Group said that the award recognises an advanced, integrated solution that redefines facility management through real-time intelligence and modern technology, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The achievement, the group noted, is the result of its initiative to develop and deploy a smart cleaning system in cooperation with its cleaning services provider and partners.

The project has led to the operation of four advanced cleaning robots at QAIA as part of a broader tech-enabled ecosystem.

According to the group, the system is designed to integrate seamlessly with other airport platforms, leveraging real-time data collection and analysis to optimise cleaning routes and allocate resources based on passenger movement and operational conditions.

This approach enables cleaning teams to proactively address high-traffic areas, significantly enhancing efficiency and ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained across the terminal.

QAIA was selected as one of only four winners worldwide this year, standing out for its advanced vision in airport operations and its commitment to delivering a seamless, efficient, and passenger-centred experience.

The award was officially presented during a gala dinner held last month as part of the “Airport Innovate” event in Busan, Korea.

“Winning this award affirms the strength of our approach, where smart technologies work alongside human expertise to boost efficiency, support operations, and maintain the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Queen Alia International Airport ‘like your home,’” said CEO of Airport International Group Nicolas Deviller.

He added that the smart cleaning system is a clear example of how data and innovation can enhance comfort and care for millions of passengers passing through the airport each year.
