AMMAN — Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al Sammen on Sunday met with representatives from the World Bank (WB).
The meeting focused on plans and projects related to the development of Jordan's road sector and the possibility of implementing a number of public-private partnership projects.
The delegation included Mira Murad, Head of Transport Department at the Jordan office, and Hakeem Al Aghbari, expert in roads and bridges, and Muneeza Alam, economist, Transport Global Practice of the World Bank, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Abu Al Sammen emphasised that the World Bank is a strategically important partner for Jordan, stressing that work is in progress, in cooperation with the bank and the Ministry of Transport, to upgrade the Kingdom's road network, as well as to improve transport strategies and road safety, and push forward partnerships with the private sector.
The WB is working on drawing plans to improve Jordan's transport network with the aim of increasing efficiency and road safety, the representatives said.
They also expressed the bank’s commitment to providing support to the ministry to implement a number of projects aimed at improving the efficiency of Jordan's roads.
